I can understand Lucy's mom's frustration.  She may have seemed mean because there is an estimated 15 million companion animals brought to US shelters annually.  Approximately, 12 million of them are put to death because they can't find homes for them.  If you go to the pound you will find that there are a great number of rot, chow, and pit mixes.  Too many people are irresponsible.  You understand, no?

When she shows the signs it will be from 3-21 days before she will allow breeding. The time she will allow breeding is about the same time length! Your dog and the males are the only ones to determine when. Put her in with a male and he will know when she allows it. Since breeding is so confusing so you should read up on it or something so your not completely in the dark if something happens. There are so many things that go along with breeding. The time frames, the special care, the cost, the unexpected problems that cost dog lives, etc. If anyone is breeding that really cares about the safety of their dogs and pups to be PLEASE learn all you can on dog care and whelping instructions. I cannot stress to you the confusion or problems that can occur if you don't. Death often results from not being prepared. If you have any questions email me and I will try my best to answer. Breeding and the results can be great fun.....or a nightmare. Will you take the risk? stanishas@aol.com

Lucy's Mom was rude and she could have calmly said that if you are not a experienced breeder then maybe you shouldn't breed, but we have all have our first time breeding. You do need to educate yourself before you breed though. I also agree with Mrs.Roth there are many pets in the shelter.

Hi, I have a female Pomeranian, abt 7 years old. Its more than 10 days since the menstruation period began. My dog hasn't ate anything for the past 6 days. Its now not even able to walk. It tries to stand up, but falls down. It just lies down in the same place all day and night, unless i lift it and move it to another place. I took it to the vet. he gave it a shot of vitamins and gave me a few tablets. But its condition hasn't improved. Iam very nervous and scared. The period looks like it has ended today, but my dog still won't eat anything. Kindly treat this as an SOS and advice me as soon as possible.

the menstruation cycle is basically what Bridgette said but my definition is different as ur menstruation is taking place an egg  is beginning to mature in one of the ovaries so its basically  disposing all ur bad eggs and it last 5-9 days

rude, rude, rude thats what i think Lucy's mom was. People ask questions because they need answers, and there is nothing wrong in helping someone. I really pity the animals she has if she has any.

Lucy's Mom is extremely rude and in was not referring to mixed breed "mutt pups" but was rather referring to the fact that reg was just merely inexperienced at the breeding process. Why come to a site where other folks come looking for help and be condicending to them... That's mean and rude! your a bad mom...
