Is it normal for 5 days after a navel piercing for it to be red around each hole? It is not discharging and pus or hurting but it is red and seems as if the sin is growing up and around the ring. Should I be alarmed? Is it infected, and if so what can I do to treat it???

Uhhh, it's a wound, wounds are red... what do you think?? if a navel piercing takes up to a year to heal, then after the first five days I'd say it'd be safe to say ya, it'll be red, I've had mine pierced for a month and a half and it's still red. In fact, the piercing isn't red when it's healed, so as soon as it turns skin color, it's healed.

I've had mine done for over a year now and my bellybutton stayed red for about 5 months. Just make sure that you clean it with warm salt water and move it around while cleaning so your skin isnt stuck to it.Its normal for puss to come out of it while its healing so dont get too freaked out, but if it starts getting really sore and nasty lookin then go to your doc or get the opinion of the person who pierced it.

I had mine done about 6 months ago and mine is still a bit red!But i can change mine and everything it looks great! But if it does go all nasty then go to get it checked out! But dont worry if you have only had it done for 5 days it will still be red and a bit puffy!

i got my navel pierced just 6 weeks ago and it's still red too,and i tend to get a little puss too (which hardens sometimes making it hard to move my barbell) when i haven't cleaned it in 3 or 4 days, but other than that i'm fine! i relly don't think there's anything to worry about if so many people experience this. so just keep everything clean and you should be fine! :)

i have had my belly button also for 5 days and it is red just make sure that you arent touching it without your hands being sanitized and make sure that you are cleaning it properly and following all the guidlines i was worried also but around both holes it is red...you have to realize your skin was just punctured and it is gunna be irritated for a while but it will heal may take time but it will heal...

I've had mine for a little over a year and it's still not completely healed. It's normal for a navel piercing to take 6 months to over a year to heal; it just depends on the person.

I've had mine done for just a little over a month, and it's still pinkish/red, but the info here helped reassure *me* a lot as to how well my piercing'scoming along.
(The barbell first used was way too short, had to go to a ring, then switch back to a longer barbell... I'm leaving it alone now so it'll heal up!)

Hey. I had my belly button done for 1 months now. I am scared that it might be infected! I don't think that is is but it might be. You shouldn't worry. Its only 5 days. But while I am typing this, I have a question. Is it normal to have puss coming out of your belly button ring after 1 month?

i got my belly button pierced last night and it looked perfect. didn't hurt, no redness or anything. i woke up this morning to realize i had slept on my stomach. haha. and it was bleeding and after i cleaned it up i noticed it's red around it.

i talked with my friend and she said it's normal for that to happen for a while, or until is healing because its our bodies way of trying to heal.

no worries :)

Mines been done about 6 wks too and its noway near ready to change. Its redder than ever before around the top hole and about 2 times a day wen i come to clean it n move the top part of the bar, abit of puss cums out. I dont think its an infection cos the puss ent green and ppl say its normal in bellys to get puss, but could it be a keloid forming?

I had my belly pierced 3 days ago and it's ofcourse more red than it was the 2nd day. I clean it 3 times a day with special sope and they gave me also a antibacterial creme so I'm a little bit worried about that I'm able to get an infection. But now that i saw the critiks of yours i'I'm less stressed.

I've had my navel pierced for about 4 weeks now, it's still a tad red, gets a little redder after cleaning then reverts to a pinkish tint, I make sure to clean it at least once a day with anti-biotic soap, then rinse, then rinse with saline solution (Contact lens cleaner) It doesn't hurt, no pus, no discharge, so at best I can say is to keep up a good cleaning regiment (I usually clean after I get off work)

I dont know my belly piercing is really weird... i got it pierced last friday, it was only red after i got it pierced and today.. for like 5 minutes. there was no pus, no blood, no crusties.. nothing. it looks like i pierced it for a long time... but its realllly itchy though : P so i guess it totally depends on your body and how well it can adapt.

Hey guys I am a professional piercer and it is normal for it to be little red you'll know its infected because it looks gross and its best to clean the puss or else it hardens and causes it to get infected the best way to clean it is useing dial antibacterial hand soap no salt salt irritates it and therefore it takes longer to heal or another thing I would recommend would be h20cean spray they sel it at hot topic and if it is infected it will clear and it helps heal 2 times fasterso if you have any questions e mail me at puppylover5613@tmail.com I will be more than happy to help u

i got mine last week mines a bit red but not infected just wash your piercing with antibacterial liquid soap and a product called bactine that should do the trick oh and try your best not to touch the piercing especially with dirty hand. good luck
