Is it possible to keep a chihuahua's ears folded or 'flopped' like they are when they are puppies as opposed to them becoming erect?

Not that I am aware of, but why would you want to?  Chihuahuas have erect ears, that's part of the breed, that's the way they're supposed to be.

If you want a floppy eared chihuahua, I suggest you contact reputable breeders and see if they might know of anyone who has one for sale.  This might be difficult, since reputable breeders try to remove genetic defects and adhere to breed standard, which is for erect ears.

Once a chihuahua gets to be 5 or 6 months, if their ears aren't erect the chances are very good they won't ever perk up.

We have beautiful puppies available but none that will have genetic defects.  Sorry ears will stand.  I do have a female rescue that is a chi mix her ears may not stand.  Please visit my website at http://cabokenels.savei.net

Ok Chihauhuas look cute all the time. IF you try to fold back their ears, then you're not a very good Chihuahaua luver! Leave them the way dat they look!

I have a pup that is 10 months old and he has floppy ears, so I know for a fact it is possible but like the other person said why would you want this- I have been trying to find out if there is anything I can do to get them to stand up- this is part of the breed and in my opinion they look better that way!
People question if he is a pure breed all the time because of it and it really upsets me because I paid a good amount of money for him and he is AKC, I feel somewhat ripped off but then again- he is my baby no matter what he looks like:)
