LaTeX keeps putting my table captions below the table. How can I get it to put the caption above the table?

Also, my backward professor wants my work submitted in Word or Wordperfect format. Are there converters available that can take my perfectly good LaTeX document and convert it to doc?

Thanks

You can simply put the "caption" statement above the tabular in the table.  This will give you an extra space, though.  Consider using the topcapt package (which does not appear to be installed by default for teTeX) to fix the spacing problem.  Also see

for more details.
