I have an 11 month Bichon with allergies.  He predominately scratches his ears (quite alot).  He has been treated with Prednisolone, which worked but we could not live with the side effects.  Also as soon as he stopped this the scratching restarted.  Antihistimines didn't work.  I have now changed his diet from Eukanuba to a Holistic Biosynergistic food recommended by a natural pet product supplier.  I am starting to wonder if he is allergic to down from our bed.  He sleeps with us.  Any ideas?

We had a Lhasa Apsa with the same problems and was treated with the same med's as you describe, we changed her diet also but with no improvement, we went to a new young lady vet who said I think she is having problems with yeast, cultures were taken from her ears and sure enough that is what she had, she was then treated with the correct medication and all the symptoms were gone, what a happy dog we then had.
