rahme is a compound word. "rah" is a cheer and "me" is talking about self. so rahme refers to a very cocky person that wants everyone cheering for themself.

My last name is also Rahme (pronounced Raim) The story i get here (canada) is that it is a German word meaning a wooden frame or cream that settles on the top. I have met many people from lebanon that tell me all the time it is a very common name within their culture.  my dads family has been in Canada for as far back as they can remember. There has been no real search for the name on our side. maybe its time to do so

Rahme means mercy, in Arabic or Aramaeic. I donīt know exactly in which language. My great grandfathers were Maronite priests in Bcharre. They were very valuable people with great moral and human principles. People to be proud of.
