1993 Plymouth Sundance Duster. Engine cranks but won't start. Getting spark at plugs and fuel to carburetor. Seems to crank with an unusual sound and rhythm but the timing belt seems to be OK. Fault code displays a 12 code. Begins to start if peddle is held to the floor. Sort of a chugging sound and then it dies. Thought it might be a PCM failure. What are the symptoms of a PCM failure?

IF IT IS A 2.2 OR A 2.5 POSSIBLE HEAD GASKET OR TIMING BELT FAILURE, IF IT IS A 3.0L V-6
POSSIBLE TIMING BELT FAILURE OR A BAD PICK-UP IN THE DISTRIBUTOR. THE DISTRIBUTOR IN THE 3.0 HAS A DUAL PICK-UP ONE FOR THE SPARK CONTROL & THE OTHER FOR THE FUEL INJECTOR SEQUENCE IT MAY,HAVE SPARK &FUEL BUT STILL CAN BE DEFECTIVE, ALSO CHECK FUEL PRESSURE.
FOR THE TBI INJECTED 2.2 & 2.5 PRESSURE
SHOULD BE BETWEEN 12 TO 14 PSI THE 3.0L MULTIPORT EFI SHOULD BE 40 PSI.

I just recently got a free 93 Sundance and I am having this same problem. The sparks and wires have been changed - would changing the Dist. cap help? I thought it was the battery, but it was fine. I added in some gasline antifreeze and fuel inj. cleaner but am having the same issues

Both my 93 Dusters needed improvement to the starter relay ground path.  You may see with a test lite that voltage goes to the relay, but the return path through the computer is inadequate for the relay to pick.  I added a Radio Shack wirewound ceramic resistor of 100 ohms from the relay's yellow wire to a push button attached to ground in the dash.  When the car won't spin, I hold the button in while turning the key.  The cost for the resistor, switch, wire, and Haynes manual with wiring diagram was under twenty bucks.

I had that problem with my 3.0 V6 duster a while back. I found out that the proper amount of fuel wasn't getting to the engine  because the fuel filter was clogged/bad. A new one is about 5 or 6 bucks and it's located under the car so it's easy to get at.

my duster has been haveing that problem as well and its eather the rotor in the distributer or the cap or it could always be a timing belt problem but i am not sure. by the way my duster has a 2.5 not a 3.0 sfi which is the only other stock engine that cam in the duster this is why i don't no what your talking about in the last posting because there is no efi model and there is no carbortated model not for a 93

get a new car.  The plymouth dusters are slow as pond water.  They are very hard to find parts for and if you want one with an ifle tower spoiler on the back and neon lights.  Then publish it so I can sell this old piece of nothing.  It runs ok  has a 3.0 v6 will take 1500 for it.

I suggest just getting rid of that piece of junk, and try finding a real car. I might suggest a small suv, such as the kia sportage.

I too had my car stall and wont restart.  I've noticed the check engine light is flashing now, but I have no idea what the single flash code means.  I dont have any spark and have replaced the coil and still it wont start.

Your engine code 12 means that the battery was recently disconnected...  There are several websites that give the descriptions of the different codes, search them out...
