why do you have to be 16 years old to get a tattoo, why can't someone younger get a tattoo if their parent gives permission?

Of course you can but realize this. Your only 16 now. Here's a simple math equation that I found out.

Take your age-10=How smart you are now.

Were you smart when you were 6? Would you prolly be happy with a choice of a design you made when you were 6? Prolly not.  Just things to consider is waiting till you get older to have better choices about what to get PERMANENTLY added to your body for the rest of your life.

hey, Jag good thinking'. Really I don't know why you would want to get a tattoo when your only like 14. come on, it's just not right. how many people have you seen with a tattoo & they are only like 14? Kinda gross like slut gross. Rachel- please at least wait till your 16 okay? I'm not trying to be a mom & am 16 but just don't. okay??

i have wanted a tattoo for like 3 years and I'm 13, i go to a Christian school and i asked my bible teacher if it was ok to get a tattoo and he said that it is your decision but if you are a Christian you wouldn't because if you get a tattoo you are marking a temple of the holy spirit so he is saying to not get a tattoo at all but I'm gonna get one because i have always wanted one but I'm gonna wait 'till I'm 16 :)

just think about it real hard..........tattoo!
its soo tattoo. there is too too and blue shoe, but nothin beats a tattoo. big one little ones make me sick, like soo sick!
tattoos to me are cool, but thats me, and i like tattoos so you choose wisely.

on my left half of my neck"

in a hawk with a skull, with a type of boarder around it

on my left shoulder, with a gang symbol which i wont name

i have flames on my left arm
"money by any means"
on the inside of my uper right arm, with a 100 dollar note on'it
i have "O" on my left arm, and "G" on my right arm.. put them together an it makes "OG" for those who dont know what it means, never mind about it
a picture of a gun 9mm on my left arm
i have a few more, but wont go into them


as some might start to gather, i am in a gang... not some big thing, just a small one that me an some others do, do anything for the money ay'

im 16.. i started getting these last yr when i was 15 after living on the streets for 4 yrs i decided to start sellin drugs an stealin, hustlin started gettin some cash flow man

if i was u i prob would get them now.. but if i didnt have this life style.. grew up rich, i wouldnt get tat's but hey, thats how it goes

i think you should be able to get a tattoos and piercings at 16 without parents permission i think your old enough and mature enough in mn you have to be 16 with a parent permission or 18 without i got a tattoo when i was 16 without permission from my brother he is a tattoo artist and does many for people i only recommend this to someone you know very well so you dont have any regrets

Hey, I'm 16. I'm considering getting a tattoo. for some states the age requirement is 21 or 18. I heard they do it in the dells. Where would I go to get one where the minimum age requirement is 16? and would I need a guardian with me? or parental consent?

Im 13, and definately not a slut or trailor trash.  I go to a catholic school, and have since kindergarten and i want a tattoo on my right hip.  My mom thinks it would look cool, and my older sister has one in the same spot.  It doesnt matter how old you are as long as u have a parent with you.

The only thing is if you are under 18, you probally will have trouble finding an artist who will tattoo you, luckily there are some close to me.  If you are really serious talk to your parents and look around at parlors and find their policies.  I have done alot of research on tattoos so you can take my word on it.

I think of it like this: When I was twelve years old I was obsessed beyond BELIEF with the backstreet boys. I would have done anything to mark their logo on my skin permanently. Now, four years later, if I had a backstreet boys tattoo, i might just want to kill myself. Think about it. If you are going to get a tattoo, make it something that is not a phase (ex. bands, singers, other peoples names, cartoons/tv shows you like now).

I AM 14 IN MARCH I WAS GOING TO GO TO THE GOOD CHARLOTTE CONCERT BUT I COULDNT SO I DISIDED TO GET A TATOO .

maria being 14 and having a tattoo does not make you a slut. The person who acts like a slut and want to be a slut will get treated like a slut. Plus It all depends what you get and where you get it at then that might make you look like a slut. Anyways I live in Ohio and many many kids under 16 have tattoos and im not kidding. But im 15 and i want a tattoo. And i have permission from my parents i just a to find a tattoo place.

hey i am kayla and i have always wanted a tattoo and my mom told me it is your body and she said when you are  16 teen i can get one and i have one more year and one of my good friends said that he can get me one now and i am thinking about it but my moms boyfriend want let me and to i am going to get it done no matter what they say but i am not a slut and it is not true if you get a tattoo you are not a slut so their you are wrong and make a good choice because you are going to have it for the rest of your life so make it good and dont get stupped tattoos

im 13 and i want a tattoo,just a little heart(born on valintines day hehe)i just realy think people shouldn't worrie bout stuff like that. omg you got a heart or a dragon.i could understand if you got your boyfriends name on your leg but sumthing little and fun houldn't be to harmless. life only lasts a wile o have fun with it!

Seriously, wait until you're older to get a tattoo...I can assure you that something you get drawn on your body at 14 will not possess the same meaning when you're older, and I'm talking maybe 5 or 6 years older.  I got a tattoo at 18 and even though I still like it and glad that I have it at 20, I don't feel the same about it.  Remember, with studying comes knowledge, but only with age comes wisdom.

I don't think getting a tatoo that young is good either. Even if you decide to get a tatoo later you probably would make a better choice of design than when you're 14!
Btw- They use needles to sort of drill it into your skin....

I got a tattoo when i was 16! I dont regreat it becaue it's a part of me but really wish i would have waited till i was 18. You think you know what you really want but most likly you dont, I have three other firends who got a tat when they were 16 and also wish they waited!! trust me you'll be 18 before you know it enjoy your young years dont rush to do things! I know really how badly you think you want this and how much you thought about it. But I was in the same boat once and trust me just wait it will be on you your whole life you can really wait a few years and you'll live!!!!!

you really don't want to get a tattoo if ur younger than 16 cause one ur growing & it'll destroy ur tattoo when ur older.  2nd when you get older most likely u'll hate it or u'll regret it.  always wait a few weeks/months after u pick ur tat our cause u might not want it later. take it from me:(

I am 15 and had a tribal tattoo done on my left arm, i had my parents consent and told my tattooist i was 16 so it would be legal. It is a big decision so i wouldn't rush into it, one way is take the tattoo you like and stick it on your wall for a month or too, if you start to get fed up with it, its not a good idea to get it done as it will be with you forever. Now i choose my tattoo and waited three months to see if i liked it , even some say this is not long enough but i just had to have it and still love it, i am turning 16 in a few weeks now and it still feels very good. I don't know what i will be like at the age of 30 but who will know who they will be like by then anyway.Another good idea for you really young ones who think they want a tattoo is either get a henna and see what you think and your friends think, but most of all your parents, an even better idea if you think henna is to "wimpy" for you is to get a disintegrating tattoo , these will last from 2-3 years and your skin will break them down, these are a good idea and i know a few friends who have got them. Anyway enough said the point is I'm just telling you people to be careful, ensure you know what you're doing, and think about it, nothing good ever comes from rash decisions. In the end its your own body and no one else's this therefore should mean you get to choose what to do with, which is in some cases good but remember you have to live with that tattoo and no one else. I hope I've been a help xxx

Yeah, I'm 14 too and I want "God gives me strength" written in Hebrew just below the bend on my right arm. My mother says yeah and I'll probably get one when I turn 16. But I mean, it is permanent so they're making you wait for your own good, most likely. Or so my mother says...

I am nearly 17 and i am going too get a tattoo next week with my mother. I am getting a tattoo because i think that they are beautiful works of art that should be shown off and appretiated with the same respect as you would a painting by Picasso. I think if you want a tattoo for the right reasons and you have your parents consent then you should be allowed too get one. I have wanted a tattoo since i was 9 and so so 8 years later the idea hasnt worn off yet so it is my time too be drawed on!

The reason you should not get a tattoo until you're older is because when you're a teenager it is hard to see the big picture and the fact that things like tattoos on your hands, arms, etc may look "tough" when your 14...but then when your 40 and want to be "soft" you've already been marred.  If you must get one, do it some place that won't embarrass your kids later at a school function!

i know i wont regret mine!
to be honest if it ment somthing to you at one point in your life ..thats part of your life! doesnt really matter if you hate it after you liked it once.. but thats just my veiw..

Why not just wait until you're 18 anyways?  Your parents can't get mad, and it's a cool thing to be able and go do it on your birthday.

I'm 18. and I've wanted a tattoo for a long long time so i can understand how much you might want one. but 14 is really way too young to be getting a tattoo. when i was 14 i thought that i was old enough and mature enough to make big decisions. but now i look back and i know that i really wasn't. i am thinking about the tattoo that i wanted back then and I'm so glad i never got it. because i know i would regret it. because that design is not representative of me anymore.also i think it would look extremely trashy, even though i thought it would look good back then. so do yourself a favor and wait until you are older because you are going to have that on your body for the rest of your life. besides you don't want to be 21 and have a tattoo that only a 14 year old would pick out

i got a tattoo at 15 by my dad but i wouldn't recommend it cause i think i was too young and so now i want to get it burned off!!!

i am 16 and i really want to get a tattoo on my lower back in memory of my mom, because she died when i was 10...i really want it done and have full parents consent!!!can anyone help me find a place that will do it around Maine?!?!?!

im 16 and live in Oregon. I cant get a tattoo here even with my moms permission. You have to be 18 here, but my sister got hers when she was 16 in hawaii. It all depends on where you live. Where can you get one at 16????

I think u should not have to be 16 to get a tattoo because what if you forget what tattoo you want and it might be out of style by the age of 16!

Im 15 years old, and i want like 5 different tattoo's. And around thanksgiving [when i was 14] my mom and me went to get our cartilage pierced, and she told me that i could get a tattoo. And so i'm planning on getting all of the tattoo's i want, and yeah i know i may regret it when im older, but it's what i wanna do now. And just because somebody wants a tatto doest make them a slut. Some people are obviously too young, but it doesnt make you gross/slutty. So if your parents allow you and you find someplace that will do it then go for it!

Well, if you get a tattoo young as you grow it will deform... depending on which shape you grow.. It can also deform on the hips, breasts, and stomache if you get pregnant! If I was you I would wait!

Ok i've wanted to get a tattoo for some time now but for a while i just wanted to get one of my initials with angel wings around it(a family thing). Recently i had a friend die and now i want a cross with a banner on it and his initials... he means more to me than my stupid initials! This is the first thing that my mom has agreed with me on... by the way jag makes a really great point but i'm only 16 and this is a decision i think i'll be happy with later in life!

look you can be like 13 and get a tattoo but you have to have a parent sign for you! like i am getting one and i am 13! nothing big but just a peace sign on my finger or toe! like my mom is going to sign for me! i love tattoos i want to be a tattooist! my role model is Kat Von D! but i hate when people think that people who have tattoos are emo and they are deathly!! I am so not a emo or anything more like a hippie! like i wear A&F! but totally don't act like it!
