I have a 4 year old rottweiler who was born with painfull hips.  She has only been bothered by them on cold mornings, but recently, about 3 months ago she could hardly walk at all when she got up.  I took her to the vet and had her x-rayed and was told that she had hip dysplasia.  I've gotten her shots to help rebuild cartilage and acupuncture for her pain along with prescribed pain meds.  She is just getting worse everyday.  What can I do for her?  I cry for her everyday.  Please help

I just found this site, I hope she is doing better, my collie also has hip dysplasia, I've found through trial and error the following combination that has made a drastic improvement for her. She gets the following twice a day, every 12 hours, 1500mg of pharmacy grade glucosamine HCL and sulfate, 2 dog-gone-pain pills, a product from the harmony co. and 1 1000mg MSM pill. I've watch her go from not wanting to go outside, to going outside and out to the pasture by herself, it has made a big difference. dk

If it's that bad talk to your vet and if surgery will help, give her the surgery. My rott is only 3 and just this week diagnosed, I know that if I'm told that his best shot is surgery, I will do it in a heart beat.
