Pups of any breed should stay with their dam until they are at least 8 weeks of age.  Any younger and they miss out on critical lessons learned with their litter mates and dam, meaning you'll have a lot more work training.  Some breeders won't even let pups go until 12 weeks.  The human bonding stage is approx. 8-16 weeks, so you still have plenty of time to forge a strong bond with your pup.

good answer topdog, socializing your dog is one of the most important steps to raising a dog,any dog the attention you give a puppy is expected by that animal through out its life it gits big and the attention once paid to the cute puppy stops, thus causing problems

Could someone tell me, how old is too old to crop a dog's ears?  I have an 81 pound one year old apbt.  When he was younger I foolishly let someone talk me out of cropping his ears and now I wish I wouldn't have listened to them.  Obviously, I would only allow someone who is licensed to perform the cropping, and if it's too late, obviously I'll let it go.

Also, could someone suggest a good company who makes the beautiful leather collars and harnesses that I've seen.  I'd like to get him one because he deserves better than the nylon stuff in the pet stores.

Thanks

first, if you have to ask how old. you do NOT need to be breeding anything.

Conventional opinions are now that 7 weeks is the ideal age for puppies to go to their new homes as they have not yet entered the first "fear period" which occurs at 8 weeks.  My vet suggested that they could go at 6, but I prefer to keep my pups with their mum and litter mates until they're 7 weeks.

Don't take a puppy away from its dam untill it is at least 8 weeks.
