Islandnet.com promotes that they blocked 2.5million "spams" in the last 30 days. Is this possible? What would PEP be?

Islandnet'sPEP stands for Personal E-mail Processor and is a very configurable control panel to decide how you would like to control your mail. This includes white lists (that remove messages from addresses for the rules applied) and black lists (that remove messages from these addresses regardless of other rules).

Islandnet includes its own anti-spam tools with various simple options and the ability to apply rules from other spam-blocking databases.

This facility also allows you to add a vacation message and can do much more if you wish to use basic server commands.

FYI, I've been a customer for over 10 years and have a number of clients and friends using Islandnet.com in its variations (Islandhosting.com--a hosting service only and HighSpeedPlus.com--a high speed access service). Note that Islandnet has begun to place these outside services back into Islandnet, offering very competitive rates for some wonderful features.

Unlike many other hosts, these folks answer the phone and you can talk to a real person very quickly.

I've viewed other hosting services partly on behalf of various individuals and organizations that are in other areas of the country but have never found a safer place to host. There are cheaper, but without the guarantee that you can speak to someone when something goes wrong, you haven't found value--particularly when your site goes down and nobody's at home.
