This will happen when female cats are in heat.  Bring her to the vet and have her spayed.  Once she is spayed she wont be in heat anymore and it should stop her problem of making "funny noises" and urinating where shes not supposed to. There are other benefits to having your animals spayed (fixed). They  tend to live longer and healthier lives and it reduces their risks of getting cancer down the line. SO get the surgery done and her heat cycles will end.

Hello all,

My calico kitten has just recently gone into heat for the first time. I plan on getting her fixed but the appointment is a few weeks away. I live on the third floor of an apartment building and the neighbours are startign to hate me and the cat. I have read a bunch of different things and all of them have a different answer to every question, most are for kittens and cats that are breed. I just have a few questions
1) how long is this meowing at 3 am going to last does it happen through out her entire heat stage or will she give it up when the tom doesn't come?
2) is there anyway I can get this to stop? or encourage her nto to meow
3) I have read that it can last 4 days to 7 days or some sites say 10 days to 2 weeks and i have also read she might come into heat every two weeks, but some sites say only 3 or 4 times a season (a season being march to november)

please someone help me understand my poor love sick kitty

My cat is in heat I don't want to get her spayed right now but, how do I get her to stop? I was told by a breeder to use a pencil and Vaseline and then she will quit but is there a safer way to do this?

I have a 6 month old Himalayan kitten that just went into heat for her first time also.I would like to breed just once,so I'vedone some research and found that some vets say that you can use a rectal thermometer to bring her out of heat, just don't let her sit down, which is their first reaction when you insert. It should suffice her for awhile.Good Luck ;)

Do all cats make loud noises when they go into heat?

Get your cats spayed and neutered!  Do you know how many homeless cats there are?  Or how many cats waiting to be adopted, having to live in cages, who will be put to sleep if no one takes them?  Getting your cats spayed and neutered is the only ethical thing to do.

By the way, if your female cat is in heat, you should not get her spayed right away.  Wait a month until after her heat cycle.  This is for her own safety.

As far as using a pencil is concerned, that is disgusting and wrong.  That breeder should be arrested.

Please do NOT insert anything into your cat! You could rupture something and cause far more damage that a few hurt neighbors with sleep deprivation. Get you cat to a vet and get her spayed. It's the only logical solution. There are organizations that help defray the cost, such as Friends of Animals, and some will do it for free.

I am so glad I saw your question posted. My 5 month old kitten "Oprah" has been in heat 3 times already, but the vet recommends waiting until she is 6 months to have surgery. This time was the first time I noticed she was urinating just a little bit, "just a little everywhere".I was so happy to see it was connected to the fact she was in heat, and that it was not going to be a continuing problem.
I'm HOPING, Fran

Female cats will always do this when they are in heat. That would mean that the babies are on there way.

materials needed:

1 cat in heat
1 Q-tip

Procedure:

Grab wailing, squirming cat and place it on your lap with its hind quarters readily accessible. Chances are the cat will freely offer them, if not the first time this procedure is followed, then certainly each time afterward.
Insert the Q-tip into the cat's vagina. It will be exposed and puffy. Do not insert the Q-tip into the other orifice. Either way the cat will begin to scream, but there is a subtle and audible difference in the scream of satisfaction and the scream of rectal pain. Experiment a little until you can distinguish the two.
Move the Q-tip in and out of the cat's vagina slowly at first, then more rapidly. No need to be gentle, no matter what you do with the Q-tip it beats a barbed cat penis digging around in there.
You are finished when the cat is finished. You will know when the cat is finished because it will either begin immediately to have a cat orgasm, or it will run away with the Q-tip sticking out of its ass. If this happens let it enjoy itself for a few minutes before attempting to retrieve your Q-tip.
That is it, you are done. Enjoy the peace and quiet until the cat flares up again.

What to look for: The cat orgasm that follows this procedure is something the likes of which I have never seen elsewhere. It is a wriggling, leaping, moaning dance of ecstasy that defies any experience of pleasure my mind can even begin to grasp. If humans had orgasms with the intensity of a cat serviced in this way there would be no such thing as war, hunger, capitalism or God.

Background: A cat in heat is, with few exceptions, one of the most irritating things to have living in your home. A cat in heat will follow you around and howl at you in a bone chilling, hideous wail until you are ready just to toss it outside and let it get pounded by the local tom's. After a few days of this torture having to drown a few kittens sounds relaxing. This cat-saving technique was first demonstrated to me by a terminally un-squeemish roomate of years past.

Never use any type of device on your animal. The breeder who told you this is an idiot.

Get your pet spayed.  It is absolutely better for their health and their happiness in a domestic (and wild) life.

I have a semi-feral (wild) young one in the house now that I'm socializing (working to get her comfortable w/people so we can place her in a home).  She's currently in heat.  Just have to wait it out.  You can get them spayed while in heat.  Talk to a good local veterinarian.  The sites below should help.

http://www.aav.org/vet-lookup/
http://www.vetinfo.com/
http://www.vetweb.net/

Remember it's not her/his fault that she/he's in heat.  Just be patient and loving.

Be kind and help them out as much as you can by making them comfortable.  Maybe give them special food treats.

And don't punish them for their behavior - it's a medical condition.  Remember that they are very unhappy and uncomfortable.

Please do not breed your pet.  I know you love your cat, but you're making it impossible for other cats to find loving homes like yours.  There are tons of homeless cats in shelters, in that situation because of careless owners who have either failed to "fix" their pets or have purposely bred them.  An irresponsible breeder also more often than not does not do the correct testing of both the female and male, routine vaccines of all kittens, deworming, and making sure kittens are adopting not only at the right age, but to the right people.  You ought to be ashamed.  Breeding to get more pure bred cats is a sickening reason to damn other animals.  You are personally responsible for cats being stuck in rescues and being euthanized in shelters.  Encourage adoption if you want others to have pets as great as yours, don't breed.  There are plenty of professional breeders who care about the breed and know what they are doing.
