Is there anyway I could perform tablespace export on Oracle 8.0.5? I have oracle 8i client installed in my machine. Could someone tell me if I can use my 8i client exp utility to export a tablespace residing on oracle 8.0 database?

Also everytime I try to run exp from command line I get this error.

EXP-00056: ORACLE error 2248 encountered
ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully

I could do the same directly from the box where the DB is located though.

You need to have the same Oracle client as the database. You can setup Oracle 8.0.5 on another machine to do an export, instead of yours. Or uninstall 8i client on your computer.

You cannot export a tablespace. However, you can export the containt of that tablespace then drop the tablespace and finally recreate a new tablespace with the same specs.
