Golden Retrievers live on average somewhere between 10 and 15 years. Many variables come into play in the process, diet, exercise, medical care, bloodlines, and environment.

Dogs that lead a sedentary lifestyle tend not to live as long as those that get plenty of exercise.

Golden retrievers can live to be about 15 years old, But it depends on there lifestyles. Most of the time little dogs live alot longer than bigger dogs. Make sure that your golden retrievers get lots of exercise, And has a good diet.

There are exceptions to the rule. I'm looking for others who had long lives. My Golden, August, who I just had to put down, was 3 months shy of 18 years old. She had a big yard but didn't have a lot of walks, her hips were still good as was her teeth and coat but she recently developed a tumour, which was removed and returned quickly. Her diet was Technical Weight Control and all the bones and leftovers from lean grilled beef and lamb mostly. (I am a serious carnivore who grills a lot.) She loved cheese too. She got a little chicken (no bones) and no pork other than the occasional ham bone.

Well mine just lived to be about 12 years old.  He had a great diet and was well loved.  No Golden Retriever was ever more friendly then my own.  He may not have had a ton of exersice but he got a short walk around the yard twice a day (big yard) and a longer walk every once in awhile.  I thought he was gonna live longer...
