I got a one dollar with a star at the end, but on the face side of the bill is off. The lines are off. The bill looks like its hand written. The back side of the bill is perfect. The words looks like a kid fill it in. Is the bill worth anything?

it was a mistake by the printers..when
a bill is made it is assigned a number
since those numbers can never be used again
then old bill is supposed to be discarded
and a new one with the same number and a
STAR is printed in its place...or something
like that..thats a close of description of
what i can give...BUT i do know that those
bills are WORTH A LOT OF MONEY!!...so dont
spend or lose the thing.

Actually, the bills with a star should not be second quality, they are replacements for second quality bills. Each serial # can only be used once, but each bundle of bills must have the right amount . So, when a bill is "mutilated" it is destroyed and another printed with only a 10 digit number and a star. Star notes have their own sequence. These bill are not worth more at all, unless it is something like the fisr ever (serial # 00000001) or a large quantity (like 50) in sequence

Star Notes are the most valuable and sought after type of US Currency produced in this decade! To those who do not know... Star Notes are actually replacement notes substituted by the Bureau of Printing and Engraving when dollar bills are made with Errors or Misprints. When an Error is made, and not suitable for circulation as determined by the BEP'sinspectors, it is destroyed! But.... it is against policy to produce a dollar bill's serial number more than once, so ... a Star Note is used to replace the ones in error (notice the note above and the close up on the right). Due to the low production numbers of these type of notes, and their unique attributes, they are considered rare, collectible and painstakingly sought after. We are fortunate enough to have some Full $100 Packs in stock for our customers, freshly printed from the Bureau of Printing and Engraving!. Get them before they are Gobbled up! These notes are EXTREMELY POPULAR!!! I have my own personal stash of these and won't give them up for a long time because they are bringing in higher premiums every day!

I have one of these also, but the star in in front of the serial number. It is from 1935. Does it make a difference if it is in front of the serial number or after?

The "Star Note"

The star after the serial number on the dollar bill, or any other bill, indicates the bill was destroyed in the printing process. Reprinting the original notes is forbidden the star means that the note has been reprinted.

Star notes are printed when the previous note, say G0685493l, had an error on it. Since the Us Treasury can't print the same note twice, they use G0685493*. Some star notes, like wahat you have, are also miss printed. At that point I don't know what the U.S. Treasury does but some of those bills get into curculation. THE ONE DOLLAR BILL YOU HAVE IS VERY, VERY, RARE. So don't spend it on anything, no matter what.
