The needle they use is bigger than the barbell - first they should mark with a pen where they're going to pierce and let u see it so you can decide if its right, then they clamp it (which is actually more painful than the actual piercing in my experience) then they numb the area and pierce it with a large needle from bottom up - they then snip the ends of the needle off so u just have a smaller amount in your belly button then push the barbell up where the needle is and as they do so pull the needle out. Make sure you ask for proper aftercare advise and check out where ur getting ur piercing done first - i once had my ear pierced through the rook and i hadn't had it checked out and i was in A&E and then hospital for 4 days - so please get everything checked out before you do it!!

i got 2 things: im alergic 2 metal and really wanna get mine done, ive pierced it myself SOO many times before (since the 5 grade im 13) and the longest ive been able to keep it in was 5 days bcuz it got really infected, the only metal i can use without gettin a rash is sterling silver and i dunno where u can get it done with sterling silver barbells..anyone no? second thing is: mom will not let me get my belly done but my dad will, if i get it done with my dads perm. shell pry still ground me, and if i dont tell her,when she does find out ill lose the little bit of trust she has left for me. how do i convinse her to let me get it done? so far no one is answering anyone elses questions on here theyre just saying theyre own, so email me at firefairy179@hotmail.com if u dont answer me on this site.

You guys, DIY (aka do it yourself) Piercings are kinda dangerous to begin with. And if your 12 and 13 years old and doing it, it is actually best to WAIT. You guys don't know it all, even tho you think you do, since you've 'gone through' with it so many times, or what ever. YOU DON'T KNOW IT ALL. It's called research, making smart choices, and talking to an actual piercing professional. As for anesthesia, it's just a placebo, generally a 'fake' thing. It costs more money, and its not worth it, b/c it doesn't numb the pain forever. The first week of having the piercing done hurts more than getting it pierced to begin with. Piercings aren't like scratches and cuts. It's a TOTALLY DIFFERENT sensation.

Heyyy For all u guys worrying about getting ur belly pierced...STOP IT! it's nothing. I got mine done about 6 months ago n I was freakin out coz I had heard that it can get infected n stuff like that but then I got up the courage n eventually got it done, hardly felt a thing n when he had finished I was kicking myself for all my carrying on n complaining about whether it was going to hurt or not, my advice is if u want to get it done...just go out n do it, questions really aren't necessary n if u have to ask questions about it n r worried about whether it's going to hurt or not then u can't want it done too badly, coz if u's did then the pain wouldn't be an issue, u would just go out n get it done regardless. peace out Princess xox

Please help me Yes you can it will just pecirse through the scar cartlege. i got my belly button pierced today. every1 said it wouldnt hurt but it hurt a bit! i heard that it could go wrong 2 but i still got it and i am really pleased with the result it looks brill! it hurt for about an hour after the actual peircing but its all right now! they numb it with an anestetic. hey guys i got my belly pierced today! after so much nagging from parents they finally gave in! i was nervous as hell but we went in * i had a numbing patch on about 2 hrs b4* get them from ur local chemist. they took me in and sed wats ur name where u from bla bla 2 calm me down lol, they sed to stand against the wall and they marked me i looked and sed yer that cool then i sad on the chair and they clamped it and put the needle thru then cut sum of it off and pushed the barbell up!, i wasl ike hav u done it yet? and he sed yer all done! im like omg! lol then looked at it n fell in love:) then they put a patch over it so it doesnt get germs on it and then they told me the cleaning method and then i paid n left:) if ur considering getting it done but ur like na it wil hurt it doesnt trust me n im the biggest wuss wen it comes 2 needles. and if ur rents say no just nag nag nag it works! happy piercing!

Okay, well anyone under the age of 14 shouldn't bet getting their belly button pierced. It may be fine and be a good piercing but there is a chance that something will go wrong. I suggest waiting until you are at least 15 or so to get it done. I had mine done about two months before I turned 15. It healed nicely and looked good after about 2 months. My mom didn't want me to change the ring even though I had already bought 3 new rings. It turns out I had a growth spurt around the 4th month of having it and the piercing ended up being higher up on my belly then where it first started. It wasn't extremely noticeable but it kind of looked like the ring wasn't positioned properly. After the growth spurt in about the 5th month the piercing began to get a little bit infected because it had moved. I went in around the 6th month and had the person who pierced it check it out. She told me that I would have to take it out and when it healed I could come back in and have it re-pierced. I was disappointed but I am going back when I am 17 to get it re-done. It healed over very nicely (it's been out for about a month now). The hole is still a little bit noticeable but it should heal and be almost unnoticeable within the next 6 months to a year. So if your young and want a navel ring just think about that. If you want it bad enough you will be able to wait another year or so to make sure that your ring will be perfect. :)

I think you are all very immature. NONE of you should be getting an underage piercing ESPECIALLY AT THE AGE OF 13, it can be one of the worst things you can do. Also, NO shop that you can go to that doesn't check ID and take all the proper age precautions could also mean that "Hey, why care about age? Why care about Hygiene?" Some piercings can actually be fatal if it isn't done the proper way. There is an age precaution for a reason, nobody makes up these guide lines just for the hell of it. Its for your benefit only. It is really not a good idea to go and get pierced when you are underage, especially since your body is still growing as it could cause so many problems, like the piercing growing out and leaving scars, which lets face it, its not an appealing characteristic. Rules are there for a reason. Don't be foolish and ignore them.

Yes.. you can have it done again, becuase that is what happened to mine, abfter about 6 months it pushed its self out, and then leftt alot of scar tissue, which really did look very uunattractive and it eventually faded so there was just some light pick tissue left there, at which tiime i thought it was worth another go to have it done again, which is what i did, and now it has done the same, so i literally had to take it out, before it puched its self out again, the otherr day. So i say if it has pushed its self out once, it is not worth having it done again, because it is most likely that it will happen again because your body obviously didnt like it the 1st time so it is prone to happen again.. Not to put you off or anything :P lol i'mjust saying my personal experience :D x

!! i got my belly button peirced but i had to take it out and its grown over now. does anyone know if i can get it periced again in the same spot or no?

Actually your previous piercing will have formed a layer of scar tissue, if you get it pierced slightly behind where it was pierced the piercing will be very strong because the scar tissue will form a barrier, this means it has little to no chance of rejecting (getting pushed closer to the surface aka out of your skin.) It's normal for it to reject a little with this type of piercing but with the scar tissue from the previous piercing you have an almost guaranteed chance of having a beautiful piercing.

I peirced my own belly 13 times and i ended up taking then out but now i got it perfeshenly done i have it peirced 8 times going around and never got infected

hi there, im thinking about getting my belly button done (profesh) but there are so many stories out there about it going wrong! hi ive just ad my belly button pierced it dont hurt that much the worst part is when they numb it which is very cold it isnt as painful as getting ur ears pierced my looks great so far im just hoping it wont get infected if you want yours done go for it is definatly worth it.but you must clean it twice a day with hydrogen peroxide solution 6% 20 volume with cotten buds luv megs

My friend and i got it done twice, so far it's not infected but it did hurt worse the second time. If your willing to go through the pain then go ahead! It will still look cute!

i got my belly button peirced and i ended up in hospital and i had to have an operation now i have to go into hospital evrey week because they cant get the infection to go away. All round my belly button is green and now i have to take 10 tablets a day. Before you go ahead and get your belly button perireced take my advice you dont want to end up lik me i cant even sit down proparly the pain is so bad. um no, thats wierd cuz i pierced mine myself 3 times then kept taking it out. the 4th time i tried, then even had my friends dad try to push the needle in REALLY hard, but it wouldn't go through because there was too much scar tissue and it was to hard and tough.
