it'd be easy to blacklist them as losers but in reality it's a constant push for improvement, not only to force programmers to be immaculate in their programming, but to push regular people to be more active and intelligent in how they maintain their computers. frankly any joe sixpack should be able to burn a CD or 2 to backup whatever they have, then format/reinstall their OS. but instead they're willing to pay 100-300 dollars for something i can do in an hour or two. in the end it's about the evolution of computers, and without this barrage of attacks from the virus makers, we'd be setting ourselves up for a truly horrible attack when no one would expect it would you rather be paranoid and right, or ignorant and risk losing it all?

One question I haven't seen addressed is "why do people make viruses?". Is it merely "fun", or is it part of some anti-globalization conspiracy? Maybe I'm naive, but I don't understand why somebody would want to damage the computer of someone they don't even know?

Well the most bizarre reason I have seen for people writing viruses is this. "Windows is vulnerable so I'm going to show that it is vulnerable by ruining people's computers." This is rather like saying: "little old ladies are vulnerable and to prove it I'll bang them over the head with a baseball bat until the police get their act together." No, the security argument does not work - in logic.

They just dont like anybody, their stuck in their computer room. They do that because of financial problems, family problems, or not a good overall life. They want other people to feel that way with their computers. They just have no life.
