I have a possible 'fabulous fake' Pete mentions.  The paper note is No 8894 from The Bank of the United States for $1,000.00 payable to J W Fa??man in New York Dec. 15, 1940.  Are all of these fake?  If so....is the fake worth anything to a collector?

Hi...I'm afraid they are all fake.Thousands of these fakes were produced.Good way to tell most of them were produce on yellow parchament type paper to give that old look.Real notes were never printed on this type of paper. Also most all real obsolete notes like this had hand written signatures not printed like all fake notes have. Most but not all real  signatures were all so done in brown ink. Here is a web site with fake note info. This is some of the fake notes out there but it's not all of them.

As far as any real value you can buy these notes in large quanties for a few dollars.New collectors who don't know better get ripped off on ebay just about every day with these things.
