Hi, I am developing a sci-fi novel based on the alien destruction of the moon and consequent end of life on Earth. If anyone know what would happen to us from astronomical persepctive (besides meteors and endless dust cloud that may ruin our atmosphere/biosphere completely), let me know. My e-mail is Belovarski@aol.com and my website is http://www.belovarski.com

Yours,
Boris Belovarski

If the moon controls the tides and supposedly is closely connected to the female reproductive cycle - this could mean world-wide problems with weather and making babies. Specifically, I have no idea. Make a good book/film though.

The world would go out of its orbit. Believe it or not the moon controls the earth's orbit. Human life will be extinct, and i say that half the earth will be glaciers and the other half will be dessert. Like Ho-Kan said, this was on the discovery channel and i would like to know more...

I am not very sure, but I do know for a fact that we(humans) would not be here. Also I beleive that the Earth would go out of orbit. But---once there was this other planet(I forgot it's name sorry) and basically it was so close to Earth that it colided with Earth. This planet was/had to be the size of Mars, because the collision had such an impact that it basically sliced off a portion of the Earth. That is why the moon is so huge. So humans would not exist at all, and the Earth would go out of orbit. Plus, I am not very positive, but probably the Earth would be in like an Ice Age comma. The Hadean Era would probably occur before that- then the Ice Age comma. Therefore life would probably never start forming. ( The first part of this entry is true, the second part is what i think would happen...hence the word "probably")

If there was no moon, there would be no total solar eclipses. Then we wouldn't be able to see the cool eclipsing of the sun.

if there was no moon on earth, people would actually survive. but the earth's seasons would be more server and everything would be tilted sideways like Uranus. also, the earths axis would be on the side like Uranus'saxis, and the earth's axis would be wobbling

If there was no Moon, there wouldn't be anymore Moon-isms. For example; honeymoon and moonwalk. So if there was no Moon, what would these words be changed to? I would really like to know more...

no the earth would not spin out of control and everyone wouldnt die if the moon wasnt there. there would be shorter days (about 6 hours), and random, but not necesarily weaker tides driven by strong winds and not gravity, and a pretty much constant gale-force wind would blow all over the earth, and the planet would become much colder because no one point on the earth would stay in the sun long enough for it to be significcantly heated, but the earth would still not be uninhabitable. if there had never been a moon, however, it is likeley that human life would not exsist today, because all the factors that would change in the absence of the moon, would have had a vast effect on the process of evolution...

There would still be tides because of the sun's gravitational pull, but yeah the moon controls the earth's orbit so earth would tumble out of orbit and every living thing on earth would be destroyed.

The Earth would spin much faster, the day and night cycle would probably last for a mere ten hours. Winds would be far more powerful, hurricanes would be rife and last for centuries. Just look at Jupiter. It wasn't on the Discovery Channel.

the earth would fall right out of it's orbit and we would sufficate because in the universe there is no oxygen or the axis would break apart  and the world would come to end! so thats my thought of if there was no moon but it's better off asking a expert scientist!
