My 2 year old chihauhau has kennel cough. I never got him vaccinated because he reacts adversely to most vaccines. My mixed breed puppy had it and was sick for around 2 days. Is there any difference in severity or duration in smaller breeds.

I advise a visit to the Vet to make sure everything will be ok. As an additional comment, please do get your dog vaccinated against at least the major diseases such as Parvo, Parainfluenza and of course Rabies. Your vet can give something to help reduce the reaction, a brief discomfort for your dog is so much less than the pain you will experience watching your beloved animal die from a disease he could have been vaccinated against.

I guess you should see a vet because if you do not you might loose your Chihuahua to death. I know how it feels to have a Chihuahua because I have one. I would hate it if my Chihuahua got killed or got lost if you want to know anythine else e-mail me at barrera855@hotmail.com.

My dog had it once first check with the vet and then i think theirs this one medicine that you use then just wait and hes fine.

chihauhau as a breed have a tendency to cough, this can be confused with kennal cough and vets have been known to want to opperate.... this is not nesessary!! Get him cheaked with a vet that knows the breed well. also many chihauhauhs react badly to vacine. the 1st when he is a pup is important, the second genrally causes more problems than it solves.
