Shaving over my tattoo?...
I just got my first tattoo.  It's on the inside (slightly toward the front) of my left ankle.  I didn't think to ask my artist this question.  Anyway, I just need to know how long I need to wait before I can shave over my tattoo (if ever), while shaving my legs?  Does that make sense?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I would have thought you can probably shave over it after a month or two, when the skin is back to normal. After all, all you are doing is removing the surface hairs, nothing more. I don't know if it might be different for waxing or laser hair removal though. Luckily I don't have that problem, because mine is on my shoulder.

I have the same problem, in a way.  i just got a tattoo of a tribal grim reaper on my arm about 19 hours ago.  I'm half polish, half Italian, so to say the least I'm covered in hair.  I would recommend not shaving until the tattoo has stopped "leaking", and the scars + scabs have had time to heal.  I.E. about a month to 2 months.

IT DEPENDS ON HOW BIG THE TATTOO IS I MEAN A LARGER TATTOO WOULD TAKE LONGER TO HEAL SO DEPENDING ON THE SIZE IF ITS NOT THAT BIG WAIT 7 TO 10 DAYS IF ITS BIG I WOULD WAIT 10 TO 20 UNTIL THE SKIN IN BACK TO NORMAL!

2 weeks.  You can shave your legs, but avoid the area for 2 weeks.

As an artist you can shave over the tattoo in about 2 weeks . Once all the scabs is gone go for it . But a tattoo will fully heal in about 6 months. The skin will replace itself just like a regular cut .

Your tattoo will take up to 2 weeks or more  to heal. After the scabs fall off and your skin doesn't feel lumpy and puffiness had gone down wait 3 days then shave but don't press hard because skin is still healing.

You should never shave over a tattoo, it could cause some of the color to come off. Just like donkey balls

Tattoos can heal at a variety of different rates depending on a huge amount of factors. As such a definate timescale is impossible to give. The person who said 7 - 10 days though needs to get a life and stop giving advise with no basis in reality. There is no way it will be ready to shave over by this point. You need to wait untill the scab has completely gone (do not rush this just moisturise it alot and wait) and the skin will take on a way texture. You should be ok by now. But dont take my word for it, pick up the phone and talk to the artist who did it. They should be more than happy to answer any questions.

when i got my tattoo i also forgot to ask how long before i could shave it. wait untill it is fully healed to start shaving it. after you think it's healed you might want to wait for a couple more days just to make sure. after that you should be good to go.
