I am also doing the same project at school and we need to think of varieties of foods to put into our project and try out. Maybe a stir fry with vegetables and noodles, but blanching needs to be done accurately to keep up the quality.

Food is a very complex building and it mainly consists of water, minerals, fat, carbohydrates and proteins. The melting point of water is ca. 0 degrees. The melting point of salt (NaCl) is less. The melting point of fat is much higher, ca. 20 degrees. But I guess most important is the water content. If this is high the food is perfect to freeze because of the crystal structure, which built up. This structure you also find in salt.
