Please ID this children's book:

I can recall a story, (PD Eastman style artwork, but not Dr. Seuss) about a king who could jump to the top of his castle in one leap.  When the king chooses to give up his throne, he proclaims that if anyone can jump to the top of his castle he can be the next king.  Many try and fail.  Until a small boy comes and jumps each step individually to the top.  He becomes the next king.

Does anyone recognize this story?  I have asked at libraries and book stores . . . and have been sent here.  Thank you for your efforts.

I don't know, but I also remember the book fondly and would love to find a copy. Does anyone know its title? My email address is bcgarrett@charter.net.
