is there anyone out there that can give me a recipe for making the fillo/or phyllo dough? i dont want to buy the ready made leafs i want to make the dough and make my own sheets,please help if possible?

My mother-in-law gave me this one:
1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon vinegar
a pinch of salt
1 1/2 cups lukewarm water
flour

Mix the ingredients with a fork and gradually add the flour by spoons until you have soft dough. Leave it for about 15 min. to rest.

Separate into 8 balls. Leave them on floured place and oil each of them on top only.

Let them sit at least 15 min.

Prepare your filling and the butter.

Take the balls two by two. Press them leaving the oiled side inside.

Start spreading them using a wooden pin and more flour. In the beginning it seems quite difficult, but even somewhat thick fillo is very tasty.

When you decide that you are ready, spread the fillo on a kitchen cloth, put butter, filling and gently lift the cloth until it rolls. Transfer to the baking dish. Bake at temperature for bread - 350 F. (I don't know the temp. in Celsius). Bake for about 45 min.

Try to save a piece for yourself before it disappears!
