We are installing a jacuzzi, and added a dual, 50 amp breaker, in the breaker box, and a GFI box 7 feet away from the jacuzzi. When we started the breaker and GFI box, to check the jacuzzi, before filling with water (just in case we need to move it, water should be irrelevant if not testing motor?), one of the connections in the box, or below the 50 amp breaker smoked, and we shut it off immediately.. yet after, there was no detection of destruction on the GFI. The voltage after the GFI, going into the spa, was 120 volts on each leg. Does this indicate the GFI is still working correctly? or is it possible it is not?  Everything appears to be wired correctly. We have went over it and over it.
