Some people get allergic reactions to tattooing ink.
If the tattoo is in an area that is immediately visible, people can judge you purely on that (they might think you are a slut/easy/a thug etc.
And it's also expensive to remove.

I have tatoos too, and I agree, think really hard about it......and if you do decide to get one, the only one i regret is the one I can't hide with clothing, so you might want to think about that.

I have three, I am still able to be the trophy wife on my husband arm. It all has to do with placement and size.  Nobody should tell you what looks or doesn't look good on your body.  Especially if they can't see it.

Get yourself a rubber stamp of the basic image you want, practice stamping it on different parts of your body. This should help you make up your mind. I'vehad many tattoo IDEAS and each time I'vetold myself to wait 9 months....and each time iv change my mind...

I absolutely love tattoos and see nothing wrong with them....unless they cause you a health hazard. Some things that can happen is you can get an allergic reaction, the tattoo artist may be horrible (as someone said earlier the cheaper they r the worse the quality) also some places may not be clean so you can get many diseases or infections from the needles. make sure you get something that you know you won't regret when you are older as it will be with you for the rest of your life....unless you get a removal which can cause scarring and make your wallet skinny. hope i helped with your question.

Disadvantages:  If you do like your choice of design, expensive to reverse...  Just remember you have to be 100% sure YOU want to get one....
At 32 I decided it was finally time to take the plunge..  I mainly wanted one that symbolized both of my kids....  A butterfuly seemed like the right choice as I see both the butterfly and my children as free spirits.
As for them getting one when their older?!?!? Well, when their old enough the decision will have to their's.  It is their body after all

I THINK TATOOS ARE A GREAT WAY TO EXPRESS YOURSELF.  BUT LIKE THEY SAY AND WHAT I TELL MY GIRLFRIENDS, REALLY REALLY THINK IT THROUGH FIRST. I GOT BOTH OF MINE AT CERTAIN TIMES IN MY LIFE, THEY ARE BOTH VERY MEANINGFUL, MY LAST ONE WAS 6YRS AGO AND I HAVE YET TO GET ANOTHER IDEA. ABOUT CHEAP TATOOS,, IT DEPENDS ON THE ARTIST, A FRIEND OF MINE WENT TO A WELL KNOWN TATTO ARTIST AND HE DID A CRAPPY JOB! WATCH OUT AND ENJOY YOUR TATTOO!!!

I do not under stand why anyone would want a permanent tattoo. If you want a tattoo get a temporary one. Like what if you decide you don't like in when you get married or have kids or your 75. Or what if in the near fucher they discover mager health concerns and then if you have children and they want a tattoo but they have found it unhealthy so you don't wont them getting one, but you can't say much because you have one. JUST THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!

Hi. I had a tattoo done about 3 weeks ago, lower back two chinese symbols that mean Megan thats my little sisters name, she means the world to me and I will love it forever. I believe having a meaning full tattoo is an even better feeling than just looking for something you like. You'll hopefully never regret it I know I never will!

I think tattoos are up to the person, and for all you people that said you don't like them, don't get them, if you don't like someone elses, nevermind, it's not you!, they like it, and if they don't I am sure this permanent thing on them is a reminder. Why does it matter if you are a girl or not, alot of tattoos can be very feminine, and pretty, I have one, and I can cover it up if I don't want to show it, alot of people don't know I have it, unless I want them to know. I love my tattoo, and I am going to get another of in 2 weeks. They are both in places that can be covered up, and I have wanted them both for over a year, knowing what I want, so I haven't changed my mind. It's your  body, do what you want. Don't worry about other people, they don't make the decision. If someone can change your mind about a tattoo, then you shouldn't get it. Get what you want not what someone else wants. As long as you like it who cares.

I can tell you I have a tatoo above my breast, I can not wear shirts that have some slight cleavage showing b/c my tatto will show I think it adds a trashing look
to a classy girl. I regret it very much so.
I would love to show off and wear cute cloths, to go to dressy fuctions and not show this damn tatto. I cant wait to have the $ to get it removed, I ve had it 5 years now. yuck

Think VERY carefully about it.  This is for life - large tattoo's on women are not good - think about when it will be exposed - e.g. large tattoo's on your back  - what about when you go to a formal dance or get married?

Yes...  It is your body...  Do with it what you like.  But I honestly believe that people like to feel attractive.  Not trying to put anyone out there who already has one or several down, but tattoos are not in the least bit attractive.  People look much better without ink staining their skin for the rest of thier life...

When we lost our daughter to SIDS, that was the first time we both considered getting one.
Only time can heal. We both are still tattoo "less". We couldn't decide what would be appropriate, nothing could ever depict the grief we experienced and would share the rest of our lives (and be within our personal taste). Its now been 5 years and approaching age 40, I am glad we didn't get one, as our sadness has consumed too much of our young lives.
Only one tattoo.  If I were to decide on one now, it would be to (a) celebrate life, (b) be representative of me & my loved ones and (c)never depict a tragedy.

According to me the tattos is an art which must be appreciated. It's very difficult to make tatto.
If the tatto is made on the right place of the body and if it's professionaly made it's very nice.

I got a black rose on my back in January. I love my tattoo. My mom saw it in September and called me a whore for getting it. She said my image was stained. My brothers don't think it's wrong, they like it. After about a week my mom apologized and told me she was curious to see it up close. I've never apologized for getting it and so far I haven't regreted getting it. It's MY tattoo on MY body and it was completely MY decision. I've known the risks, I did the research and picked a great tattoo parlor. BTW: What's this about tattoo's being ugly "especially on young women"? When I got my tattoo it tickled. Seriously. It hurt a little. On the other chair there was a guy, his face was red and kept complaining because "it hurt". Tattoos are not ugly "especially on young women." So what if a woman wants to get a little ink under her skin, it doesnt make her any less of a woman.

The disadvantage to getting a tattoo is that you are permanently labeling yourself. Regardless of who you are, and what your station in life, there are still many prejudices against people with tattoos. If you work in construction or a strip club it may not be an issue. But if you are a Doctor, CEO, Professor, Coach, or have any other respectable position in society you will at some point encounter discrimination and you should be prepared for it.

Tatood says 'the only one i regret is the one i cant hide with clothing'- this seems to be a common attitude among people who've got them done. Can someone explain this to me? If you like something, why hide it? LOL - so what tatood is saying is, he/she likes the ones that cant be seen. Fair enough.. apart from, why get them? If youre proud of something, you show it off - it seems tatood is actually saying 'the one i regret most is the visible one - the ones i can hide i have no need to regret, because they're hidden'. Dont be silly guys - if you could rub them off with an eraser, you would. You only say you like them because youre stuck with them and dont want to admit to mistakes. I agree with Sterch entirely. Tattoos are ugly - and even worse on women. Why mark your body? Just Dont Do It. Look better.

I am thinking of getting a white tattoo of the outline of a simple star about 2" big on the back of my neck, so my hair will cover it. Not many people will see it, but I love knowing that I will have one. I got the idea off of Miami Ink. I think white tattoos are a cool idea for someone who is unsure of what to get and want to get one that is hard to see. Google image search them and there are pretty awesome pictures.
Peace!
