i was wondering if it was possible for a child to die of sudden infant death syndrome at the age of 18 months and if so where could i find documentation and statistics on it?

it depends on if your child was a premature baby or a sickly baby at birth. Any of the SIDS sites have the rate to watch all babies up to 1 year. http://www.cjsids.com/sids.htm#SIDS%20Facts

Per statistics SIDS is most likely to occur between the ages of birth to six months with the highest rate at four months. Although it is uncommon SIDS may occur up to 24 months of age. I spoke to a parent who had lost a son to SIDS at 24 months of age and she to questioned the facts. SIDS ALLIANCE out of Albany has a lot of interesting facts and statistics that may be of help to you. My heart goes out to you and I hope you find all your answers.
