hello ramakrishnan,
i am an M.tech graduate in VLSI design.i think i will be able to help u.u should primarily have a good understanding on the internal functioning of 8051,like the registers, timers, interrupts and many.after the study, try to change the circuit to logical instructions.for this u can use HDL(hardware description language),either verilog or vhdl(similar to the software languages).then u will have to run ur code in a simulator like modelsim or xilinx ise5.1i or any simulator that can simulate a HDL.if u are using xilinx ise 5.1i,u can go till the last step of downloading ur code for 8051 into any fpga of xilinx(virtex and spartan cum under the xilinx family).if u are familiar with these steps then u should only concentrate on trying to change the architecture and working of the 8051 into logical instructions.i think i have given u a vague idea.if u have still questions regarding this, specify the correct need.
