How do I insert the degree symbol(ie 37 C)

1st. look in an ASCII character table for the number that character has.

2nd. type AltGr+<number> and you get it.

Note: I think the number must be typed in the number-pad.

Note: if you just can't find an ASCII char. table around, and if you are much interested on writing that character, you just can do what I've done many times: do the 2nd. step once and again up to 255 and you will get written the whole ASCII char. table. Be careful because the 12 or 24 characters are control characters and in some programs they might have effect.

Example: "~" (so useful to work in MS-DOS with Windows' long filenames) is AltGr+126.

so much easier to hold the Alt button and enter 248 on the keypad.
