Jaws was filmed on Marthas Vineyard island in Massachusetts.  I have recently seen a picture of a boat from the movie still at the island (partially sunken)

Jaws WAS filmed on Martha's Vineyard off the coast of southern New England. The fishing village scenes were filmed in the town of Menemsha on the south west tip of the island. What's left of Quints boat the Orca is still there on a small beach just opposite the town. It,s the one they used as the stunt boat as there were actually two used for filming. I know coz I've just been.

We vacationed in Menemsha this summer and surveyed the remains of Orca II.  It rests on a beach only accessible by small boat.  There are 2 boats laying side by side.  I first thought the more intact vessel was Orca but upon close inspection, this was not the case.  What remains of Orca II is a delaminating fiberglass hull buried 1/3rds in sand. The superstructure, transom and interior are gone.  Somewhat of a disappointment.  What is interesting however is the remains of the camera platforms and what I believe is part of the mechanisms used to articulate the shark.  It's apparent the Orca rests with all sorts of stuff in what was the movie's equipment staging area.  Lots of rusting equipment left over from 30 years ago.  It was fun to poke around.

Martha's Vinyard is correct. There is NO actual 'Amity Island' on the East Coast.
The closest place in name is Amityville, Long Island (NY), where the Amityville Horror supposedly took place.

Jaws was filmed on Martha's Vineyard. There is no Amity Island, and if there is... somewhere in the world... it wasnt filmed there. I think I would know I live on Martha's Vineyard
