I have a 14 yr. old shih tzu...her eyes are terrible...goop....she bites me and anyone who tries to clean them...what can I do...her one eye is completely shut...she is totally blind...but in good health...HELP!!!!!

OH NO THINK TALE HER TO A GROOMING CENTER OR SE YOUR VET QUICKLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your not the only one with that problem. Just get it looked at, don't use drops, because they only made it worse for coco. (my 11yr old shih tzu.)

In any case like that its best if you take her to a professional, you could be doing more damage by trying to help.

I just had the same problem with my 6 year old. The vet said he has ulcers on his corneas that left untreated could eat away at his eyes and cause him blindness. These are supposedly caused by a low tear production that the breed is prone to.  After an initial antibiotic treatment, he now has drops that help in tear production that he will probably have to have for the rest of his life.  I know how you feel, it's horrible to see his little eyes swollen shut and then have to fight to get the drops in.
