I can't see why that would cause a cat to die, since doctors shave other parts of a cat (such as their tummy) when operating. Beware of harming the cat's whiskers though, because that's what they use to maneuver around. Living without them would be like you driving a car, when all of a sudden, you lost your sight. That's the only thing I know of that can harm a cat though. Take care, and God bless!

Of Course the cat would die if you shaved its tail. personally this is probably my favorite method of cat execution, as it causes almost no pain and has nearly instant effects.

Shaving a cat's tail wont make the cat die. Ignore some of these people's advice. I have a cat and I get him shaved and he is fine. So dont worry.

I know tons of people who shave their cats and even groomers too.  When they do lion cuts, they shave almost the entire tail except the tip.  Your cat will not die if you shave the tail. That's just a joke.  People are just making fun.

Some of these answers are absurd!  I get my cat shaved twice a year, tail included like a lions cut and she's still breathing. Geez!
Whoever said they shaved their cats tail and it died, well obviously you killed it some other way.

i shave my cats all the time and they are still alive and very healthy. There is no reason why a cat would die if you shave it unless from a heart attack if the cat is too  scared but never happened to me. I shave my cats  because i just cant stand cat hair all over the house, and it makes a huge difference. I actually really like the lion cut look on them its really cute.

So don't listen to Myths and legends , cats wont die if you shave them or shave their tail.

Why on Earth would you shave ANY PART of your cat?

That is best left to professionals.  You may HURT the cat by shaving him, unless you use an electric razor with guard...what am I saying??  DON'T SHAVE A CAT!  They need their fur, it is protection from cold, Ultra Violet light, enemies, and protects them as they navigate the underbrush.  Dang, what is with you people?

If you are in a Fraternity and MUST shave a cat's tail, get it done at a groomers, or at LEAST use a good electric shaver with guard, and be ready to be scratched and bit, because YOU DESERVE IT!

But better yet, save the frat dues and adopt a cat-friendly dog to have fun with your cat.

If you shave your cat, be sure to avoid shaving its tail, head, and feet as all those parts of its body have specialized hairs for mobility. The fact that it might die, though, is debatable. The only way I can see it dieing is a mobility accident.

I have really bad alergies and I get my 12 your old cat shaved four times a year. He loves it, and runs around like a kitten. Cats adjust to a lot of different things that come their way. As long as they know that they are loved unconditionally. For that is what they give to us. A cat owns you...remember!!!
