It's not--get a better lawyer.  You can get cheap or free legal representation if your income is low enough to qualify.  The Legal Defense Fund, local chapters of the American Bar Association, and law schools can be a good resource.

Well if you have done the work so can child support you have to stay on them about it.  If you don't call they don't care. My friend has been going through child support and her daughters father lied about his income. He owns 3 houses and rents 2 out and he only pays 280 a month and he doesn't really pay that. We looked up his info on a website that belongs to the state so they were more than capable of finding out his info. They have something called friend of the court that does child support so maybe you can contact them and see what they can do. Oh yeah and unless he receives mail at  the addresses you give them they cannot do anything. Just get any type of documents you can and information you can and keep sending it to your caseworker. Well good luck in your search

I moved to Ohio in 2000 my x has been in South Carolina since 1999. My divorce was finalized in 1997 in Indiana. For the past five years my x has paid me 139.00 a month for my now 13 yr. old son, and 16 yr.old daughter.Oh, and they are both bipolar. They require to visit doctors very often and only 4000 doc.s US wide deal with their ages.So now I am required to drive 45 min. one way. And they attend a special school for kids with special needs. This year after lots of anger between us and his new family our support was recalculated by him and it showed that he should be paying 167.00 a week based on the income from two jobs. No here is the fun part. They tried to submit the paperwork to SC and SC sent it back and told them that IN. had jurisdiction, then IN said that OH had jurisdiction. Now on my end OH is told me originally that it was IN'sjurisdiction and IN told me that it was OH'sjurisdiction. Then IN said that OH has jurisdiction. I asked if OH would fax them a letter saying they had jurisdiction. I got told be L. Cantrel in Lake County for the second time told me less than 3 months that she would call IN may need [she never calls back after that] but she said SC has jurisdiction not IN. So in a nut shell no state is responsible for my kids best interests. God help me!!!! Does anyone care???
