How often does a female Shiba Inu go into heat and how many puppies do they usually have in a litter?

Female Inus go into heat approximately every 3-4 hours. This quite unsual trait sets them apart from most other dogs. More remarkable about the breed is that the males also exhibit intriguing gestation behaviors as well. The male acts in heat for days at a time for the period, and then stoically absent-minded when not in heat. All this is documented and has been studied many times over, but still researchers have not adequately been able to explain the phenomena.

The female Shiba Inu usually has about 3-4 pups in a litter.
