I heard that feeding dogs foods other than dog food will make them smell. Such as table scraps....

Dogs rescued from puppymills and other horrific conditions often have bad odors.  One way to treat it is to use douche after bathing them. Just pour it on and kind of coat her with it. Don't rinse it off. Sounds weird but will work.  Try a nice summers eve or what not.  It will actually take out the odor of a skunk spray.  So it will work.

I agree with juanite if it came from a owner who did not treat it right it could have gotten a smell or from just roaming the streets.  A way you can probably get rid of the smell is to soak your dog in tomato jucie than rinse it.  That gets rid of skunk smells some it will probably get rid of your dogs smell.

Food can be the culprit.

Try www.healthypetnet.com/happybriggs

see if a better food will not help.  Keep in mind when they go on a better food, their bowl movements can smell even worse as they are cleansing themself of all the bad stuff.  Had that happen with a cat I had and after about 3 to 4 weeks the smell was gone.
