My sister just picked up A shih tzu at a dog pound.  His hair is short , he is 3yrs old, and thet said he was infested with fleas. He is very lovable, and we do have an app. at the vets. His tail is sparce with hair and his coat is like fluffy babty hair about an in. long.  we are concerned and we have 2 weeks to see after being checked if he is ok.  he was instant love.  do you have any advice for us.

I had the same problem take him to the vets or get a flea coller

Get him to the vet first.  If he still has flees they can treat him.  Shih Tzu mat easily and the pound may have had to cut these out (reason for the scraggly hair).  If the vet checks him O.K. his coat should come in beautifully.  They do need daily/every other day grooming in a full coat so if your sister does not want this much work she can have the groomers do a puppy cut for him.  If he is basically healthy she will end up with one great dog.

these dogs do need daily grooming cause there hair mat real easy.about the fleas you can try advantage spot on to control that problem.you should also take him to the vet just for a routine checkup.professional grooming should be done once a month.
