I recently purchased a private sale 1993 Dodge Dakota V-6 pickup truck. Before doing so, however, I drove it over to my mechanic to check it out. He found that it needed a tune up as all the wires were in bad shape etc. Everything checked out fine on the computer, so I bought the truck and took it down to get the tune up. $200+ later, the truck is having starting problems. Here is the scenario. It starts right up in the morning and if I drive it more than a half hour continuously, turn it off and then try to start it up again, it starts right up, but if I don't run it a half hour at least and then try starting it again, well it takes about ten minutes to get it going again. The mechanic has checked out about everything under the sun to see if it is working correctly and we just can't find anything wrong. So...what do think might be the problem? It has all new tune up parts, I mean everything, new fuel filter, new air filter. I am even running injector cleaner through it right now. I will say the man I bought the truck from said he didn't drive it much before he sold it to me, could it be that might just be the problem in that it needs blowing out? I don't know, maybe you can help with a suggestion or two. Thanks, Rich.
