Proestrus: This stage begins with the appearance of vaginal bleeding. It normally lasts from 4 to 9 days. Male dogs become very interested in the female; however, she will not yet mate with them. 2. Estrus: This is the stage in which the female will accept the male and conception can occur. The vaginal discharge is more yellowish than bloody. Ordinarily, the stage lasts for 4 to 13 days. Your female will stand still and hold her tail to the side when you touch her back or a male dog tries to mount. 3. and 4. Metestrus and anestrus: These 2 stages are periods of ovarian activity, but with no significant outward signs. False pregnancies frequently occur during metestrus. Some Important Points * You should consider your pet to be "in season" for 21 days: 7 days coming into heat, 7 days in heat, 7 days going out. Though conception is most likely during the middle 7 days, Mother Nature doesn't always follow the rules. Confine your pet for the entire 3 weeks.

For the guy wanting to have sex with the dog and the people that reply to him. Some of you seem to have pre assumed that there was something physically wrong with him. The situation very well could be that he has a lot of women and is tired of human sexual contact and wants to explore new stuff. It tends to be that people that do things like this are of the more physically actractive ones and not closed minded. If you would do research on the topic of beastiality it was in the olden days inscribed in walls in egypt as well as acient Rome. Recently as in the 1800's and on became unacceptable human behavior due mainly because religion started to guide people to beleive that the one they call God thinks that sexual behavior needs to eventuall lead to reproduction and with homosexuality and beastiality there will be none, so people tried to out law it due to religous beleifs. The only reason people of today think it is sick is that they have been molded in society to think that and to out cast the ones who do it. To the guy, the only way to acheive the results you are seeking is to fing a large breed puppy and work with her slowly for a year or two. Or find a dog as she has puppies and continue to stretch her vagina. I have never done this but am not closed to the idea, I have seen it in a video and the man was gettin in her several inches and both parties seemed to enjoy it a lot.

I have a two female dogs, Cici and Lilly. Lilly is about 8 months and Cici is about one year. Lilly i adopted and cici i had just got over the summer from a friend who cannot take care of her anymore. My friend said that cici was about a year and a half but im not so sure. we think she is younger and are guessing about a year. I am writing to ask about symtoms or signs to tell if your dog is in heat or going to be. I know that it is like a human period and that blood will be coming out soon but i dont know if it already did or not. we take her out in the backyard so i don't know if she has it out their. Their was some salmon colored dryed out stuff on our floor but it could be paint or something else. Her vaginal area has defiantly gotten a little bit bigger and she had some dryed dark red gunk around the area. Help is needed! Ok, first off... to the people that want to hump dogs and think that is interesting call a counselor. Now for the people breeding, what are you thinking, have you been to the pounds lately? If you wanted more pets ADOPT don't breed, also that is putting your pet at risk! Not all labors are easy, are you ready to cut your own dogs stomach open to pull babies out? So all i can say, is they are coming find good homes, and then go get your dogs spayed. Male dog owners need to get their dog Neutered, i was talking to a man at work explaining why its good to neuter and then we got onto the convo about how these huge mastiffs are indoor, well the reason is cause they would kill a CHILD, and his response was the dog would destroy it so nobody would know, i have never been so disgusted.. btw if your dog bites someone, you will pay for it to be impounded and a rabies test will be taken from the spine or sometimes the brain, then if they dont pass a min personality test they are euthanized, so dog training, and spay/neuter is HIGHLY recommended. You can call the county there is a lot of CHEAP spay and neuter clinics everywhere. Sorry for being straight forward but I'm sick of putting puppies and kittens down cause there is not enough homes.

As this phase goes on, some blood will arise from the vulva. She will usually lick this zone, and on her bed there will be some blood spots. Probably, her appetite will decrease, and she could be more excited than normal. At the beginning of the estro period, when mating takes place, blood from the vagina will disappear. This period can last 21 days, but usually lasts the same as the proestro. Therefore, in heat period is considered to last around three weeks. Real ovulation, liberation of one or more ovules from the ovaries, usually takes place at the beginning of the estro period, in 72 hours. The chemical substances produced by the female dog, used to attract males, are gradually reduced during the estro phase, and then if mating is not possible, the reproduction phase will develop normally until her next period. The anestro phase is larger and the vulva reduces in size. After five months, the female dog will again enter the proestro phase of her reproductive cycle, producing more pheromones, an odor that sexually attracts males.

There are 3 stages that I'll give you average lengths for.... 1. Proestrus. This is the stage when the female is going into heat but will not allow males to breed. Length=9 days 2. Estrus. This is where the female will accept males and be bred.Length=9 days 3. Diestrus. The dog is no longer receptive and is going out of estrus but you should keep her away from males during this period if you do not want her to be bred. 4. Pregnancy. Average length (counted from first day of breeding)=58-66 days. 5. Anestrus. This is the resting phase between the minstrel cycles. Length=5-7 months. Hope this helps.

Hi, my name is Aliese and I have a question: My dog just had her first heat on Sunday, March 21, 2004. How long will her heat last (in days)? She is a house dog and she has to have a diaper on before she can come in. She is 10 3/4 months. She is a Labrador retriever. I don't know if this makes a difference or not. How many times is it safe for a female to have puppies specifically a Carin Terrier. Mine has already had 3 litters and I was wondering about dog health and calcium in her bones. We give her the vitamins during prenatal care.
