I am pretty good at remembering how to put new things together(provided I had taken it apart --I can recall for a couple of weeks.

Question regarding wiring up a Bosch altenator to my 84 diesel rabbit.

The old altenator was a Hitachi which I removed and had it bench tested and it was toast.  Got Bosch from auto electric shop...a couple days later.
However the mental picture of what it was before now has changed because of the new altenator.  So, without further ado...
1)  what color wire goes to the W terminal?
2) What wire goes to the lone + terminal.
3)  I have a 5 1/2 inch piece of brown wire with a loop and female connector on the other end which is free.  I suspect that this may be the ground strap connecting into the wiring circuit but because this is a different altenator than what I removed, where do the ends go(esp  the female end) can't find a loose floating wire anywhere.
As it is now the two B+ and one D+ terminals are covered by the connector block.  It supplies just enough juice to kill the idiot light but I notice that the battery will accept a charge from my battery charger.  So I am slowly draining it and I don't go out at night and use my headlights minimally.   Somewhere something is not hooked up.  Appreciate the help.
