I have a 1987 Volkswagen Golf Gti 16 valve. I drove through a large puddle and the car stopped and wouldn't start for hours. After it had dried out it ran for a week and then suddenly all the electrics failed. Wipers windows heater. The radio still works and the indicators and dipped beam still work. But no main headlights.
When it happened I tried everything and found that by holding the full beam on everything came back to life until I released the main beam lever.
Anyone know what or where the fault is? I've checked all the fuses
