Any experience with the drug Periostat, intended to treat periodontal disease, used successfully to treat rosacea? Recommended by a dermatologist.

Can you take periostat and receive IPL treatments/ Does that low of a dosage cause sun sensitivity?

Used Periostat for 30 days and then had stomach discomfort & severe diarrhea. Had endoscopic look at stomach & colon--- was determined all cool. Problem was periostat killed the good bugs in my stomach while it killed the periodontal bugs. Be aware of this possibility and stop the Periostat before going further with diagnoses.

Periostat does not kill bugs... hence its SDD rating or Sub Dose Doxycycline. It has been measured clinically to have no effect on killing any bugs in the mouth, GI or GU

Periostat does not kill bacteria in the mouth. What it does is reduce your bodys reaction to the bacteria. It can be very effective when taken correctly.
