Well i might have an answer...I got this off GSA(Game Spy Arcade)- We do not recommend disabling your firewall. Disabling it will not make it open up the ports it has already closed. Instead, you need to configure it to allow access to Arcade. This is usually called "giving permission," and can be accomplised quickly by following these steps: Black Ice - Set the security level to low. ZoneAlarm - The best course of action for ZoneAlarm, in our experience, is to make sure it allows your online applications. Make sure that, when you open Arcade and ZoneAlarm alerts you that Aphex.exe is trying to access the Internet, you allow it to do so, and check the box to "remember this application." It will ask again later if you want to allow the downloading of config files. Again, tell it to allow it and remember. You can still leave ZoneAlarm on medium to high security. But don't forget that it will also want to ask for your permission for each and every game you play the first time you start it up. If not told to allow your game and remember your settings, you will again encounter difficulties. Alternately, but less effective, set ZoneAlarm to recognize Arcade as a part of your Local Network and set both local and Internet settings to "Low." Norton Internet Security 2002 - NIS2002 is really quite simple. All it takes is giving GameSpy Arcade and your game permission. See the pictures below. Do not attempt to provide Custom Settings. Just follow the simple method below and you'll be good to go: Step 1 - Grant GameSpy Arcade Internet Access Step 2 - Grant file downloading by GameSpy Arcade Internet Access Step 3 - Grant Internet Access to your games. This may not be apparent, as the window may pop up behind other programs.

you guys aren't looking at it the right way. you can't "get rid" of a firewall, or destroy it. There are ways of disabling it or allowing more access however. If you're looking to use a certain program, then the best thing to do is look up what port that program runs through, then go to the network or router options and allow access through that port. Although it changes depending on the hardware your using, it is relatively simple to change. For example, i have a linksys wireless router. To allow access for AIM, all i'dhave to do is this: 1) Find my router options. For Linksys, its located at 192.168.1.1. 2) Log into the options by using "admin" as the username and password. 3) Click advanced options 4) Go into Port Forwarding. 5) On this screen, i'dsimply enter the range of ports that i'dlike unblocked from the router or firewall. This is kind of a basic process, though it may be more difficult from a school or a business, because you don't have direct acces to the firewall options. If you go into network connections you can mess around with the generic windows firewall and see if that gives you more access. Just go into my network connections, find the network, then right click and go to properties.

To start off click start=====>run in the box type services.msc scroll down to where it displays "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" when highlighted right click and select "properties" in the dropdown menu where it says "startup type" left click and select "disabled" click ok and while still in the services window and having the firewall highlighted click in blue letters Stop; Note: You may get a error do not worry this is completely normal. Now feel free to exit the services window (your finally done with that) now the last step. Click Start====>Run and in the box type cmd a black window should pop up. Now simply type sc delete Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) Note: you may get an error again, don't fear this is also normal. Congradulations! You are now done removing the windows firewall

if you want to go on AOL go to the setup at the sign in part and configure your connection settings automatically and try to sign in about 3 times and it will work

On some computers you can go into control panal then Add or remove programs. Click on remove Firewall. Only some though!

To answer all of you questions, first you need to determine what networking connections you are using. You can do this by going to Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections>Network Connections after you do that, click on the connection you are using and in the left pane below Network Tasks click on change settings for this connection. If you are connecting with AOL you will click on the advanced tab and uncheck the box in the INTERNET CONNECTION FIREWALL. All other connecting such as MSN or MSN Explorer, the box should just say INTERNET CONNECTION FIREWALL when you pull it up. Hope this helps. ;)

If you are behind a firewall, then there's virtually nothing you can do about it. The PURPOSE of a firewall is secure control network access. You're like a prisoner asking how to open his jail door.

My girlfriend goes to a vocational school, they gave all the students laptops but they are on a very strong firewall in which i am still trying to get rid of all together,but i have found that aim, uses ports like most programs and that you can change the port that it uses to gain access, some hightech firewalls are capable of rescanning the network for such uses but you should be able to at least use it the whole day if it connects on that port,if not try changing the port again, but thats all i got so far on this stupid firewall,(Never seen such a tough lil program).hope it helps if your looking for a messenger.

Same here....School firewall is a piece of crap :(...BUT im tryin to deactivate this FIREWALL myself....but there must be a MAIN COMPUTER that controls all those computers

I know...I HATE Firewalls...They stop me going on ALL my fav stuff...Such as: -Online Games -MSN, YIM, and AIM -Control Panel You see, I can't even do the Control Panel way! These firewalls DRIVE ME CRAZY!

I totally h8 firewalls!!!!!!!!!.in my school its blocked of msn(Soo unfair!) And even wen some1 tells me how 2 do they alwayz say go 2 control panel but my skool has disabled da control panel so i cant go in 2 it.STUPID SKOOLS AND DERE STUPID IDEASSSSSSSSS

i'm having exactly the same problem, but i think it has something to do with my lan settings, eversince i go tput on a lan i am restricted to do many things, and i have checked my network connections and my firewall is disabled. this is driving my crazy! somebody help :(

ok, well i'vegot this program for downloading music and things but it says it's detected a firewall!! argh. i'vetried disabling the firewall settings but no such luck. anyway nothings working so please help :) how can i just disable one certain firewall or whatever to make the program work. Incase you were wondering the program is Limewire.

SAFW..aka..Students against firewalls K i just got a school fire wall, but someone hacked onto my password and went on bad stuff, and the princibal wont belive me that it wasnt me and he wont erase it, is there any way i can erase it myself, i hate it, cuz it makes me madd!!!!!
