This is the error message I encounter during apply awk...

This is the error message I encounter during apply awk command:

awk: syntax error near line 1
awk: bailing out near line 1

I am appreciate if I able to get some reply from this.

Without more information on your actual command line and the contents of the files you reference, I can't be specific, but basically, this means you haven't provided valid "program text", which is either the content of the file whose name follows -f, or the first non-option argument if there is no -f.
