i got a 4 month old collie cross from the dog pound.  She is very obedient, and easy to train but is very submissive.  She urinates, rolls on her back, has her tail between her legs etc.  But she has a lovely soft nature.
My questions are:
1. How can i get her to be more confident?  I took her for her regular walk a few days ago and she had her tail high and the hair on her back was stiff-her first signs of agression?  I was proud of her but since then nothing.

2. How and when will she bond with me?  She sleeps in my room and is no trouble but today she escaped from our yard and went flying down the street.  She didnt want to come to me.  Have I asserted my Alpha traits to strongly? (I make her sit for meals, walk next to me rather than in front of me etc)

A fellow dog walker told me it takes 6 weeks for a dog to imprint you as their master.  Is this true?  Im afraid she might run away and just want her to be a bit more confident.  What should I do?
