Yes, Bengal cats can get FIP. Last July I've lost my beloved 7-year old cat Bengali/variant to FIP. Nobody recognized the symptomps and only when it was decided to open him up the discovery was made. There was nothing to be done to save him. Here it should be noted that there is no PURE domestic Bengal cat . All of them are "mixed" with either Egipcian Mau or Burmese. PURE Asian Bengali is under very strict protection and only its mutants are being used to create our domesticated sweet natured Bengals.
I am writing this because I have another Bengal cat (the brother of the other)and I am worried sick that by beeing together for so many years the FIP virus could have been pased on to my Samson.
Nobody seems to observe the outword symptoms. I have been watching Puciny for years. At first at the age of two he started to lick his tummy to the point that it appear a small bold patch a size of a 50p.accompanied by tireless "chatting/miawing and non stop vocalisation.
That licking or tearing his coat from his belly increased over the years to such a degree that his entire belly was naked. I have been pointing this out to verious Vets but always had the same answear "this is stress" What stress? I asked. Well, the other cat maybe upsetting him or some noise etc, etc. The bottom line is That Samson started to lick his belly too. Not as badly
as his brother did and also is now terribly vocal. I am warried sick because I know that there is NOTHING I can do to help him except to wait and accetp the inevitable.
Take care of your cat and observe him. Bengali cats are usually following very strick self organised routine. If something out/and/or within this routine is beeing gradually performed too regular and to obsecively than check it out.
Regards,
Wizard

yes they can--a majority of Bengals will get FIP from the spray vaccination itself. I lost my female show cat after a vet suggested to vaccinate her to prevent the disease.  No Bengal should be vaccinated with any live virus.  Feline Luek. included.  Symtoms were fever---not all the time, paralysis in hind quartersa and ulcerated eye.  I would think if it's been over a few months your other cat should be fine.  Th licking could be any number ofthings including stress, skin allergy etc.  go to a different vet until you find one that knows what he's talking about.  Not many know all there is to know about the Bengal.

Hello Wizard,
I nearly feinted when I read your story. It is almost an identical copy to what happened to my cat. His name was Wizardo and nick name Pucius. He too was 7 years old when I lost him to FIP which was also recognised only on the operating table. All the symptoms and behaviour you describe was identical to my cat including pulling the fur from the belly leaving it completely naked.
I also have another cat (his brother) of the same name as yours Samson and the he too is now pulling at his belly and pecking at his food. I only hope that it is because he has an ongoing treatment for cystitis. But what a coincident......  I am still shocked from reading your article...

Hello Wizard,

It is too much of a coinsidence! I think you must have copied my story. Because:
Both cat's names are... the same
The Bengal/variant.... the same
My cat died in July 2003.....the same
All the symptoms described are.. the same. That really is to much of a coinsidence.
Even your signature is my pet's name.
There is no way that both of us would have have identical cats with all the identical ID.....etc. One of us is lying and it is not I.
