I would like to the best way to wire a 30amp disconnect for my air conditioner.  I have the 10/3 wire coming out at the base of the house.  I checked the breaker in the box and it is a double pole as suggested.  This is a Eaton Cutler-Hammer brand.  The problem is the old 10/3 wire had white, black, and green wires( green maybe the ground).  The new wire purchased has white, black, red, and bare copper.  I would like to know the best way to wire this to the disconnect box and then to the A/C unit itself.  Any help would be appriciated.     Thanks
