If you have Adobe Photoshop 7.0 you can easily convert bitmap files to JPEG files. To do this open the file you wish to convert then click "File" then click "Save As" after that under the file name there will be a drop down menu labeled "Format" bring the menu down and click on JPEG then click save.

Also, if you want to convert a bitmap to a GIF you can do that using the same method, and it can also be done in regular old "Paint" that just about every PC comes with. Hope that helps.
