Tedral works! Something that helps us to breathe we can't find,  but something such as cigarettes are left on the market and they take your breathe away. Go figure...does that make any sense? I know the only place to get this tedral again is in Canada.

I just checked and it was discontinued - Aug 99.  Don't know why because you are all right - it worked better than anything short of prednisone

I also asked my doctor for Tedral for my asthma. I took it for many years when needed when I was young. It really works but now it is no longer listed in my doctor's book or in the pharmacy journal here in NJ. Perhaps because if contains ephredrine??  Other brand names for it are...Tedrigen, Theophen and Theotal.

The drug tedral was taken off the market because Parke-Davis loss their market share from many drug companies in competion with. this drug. The FDA failed to regulate the market causing this drug being taken off the market.
Park-Davis having lost their patent in the 50's with the help of V.P. GWH Bush tax exempt status of drug companies in the Virgin Is. Drove Tedral from $20/per 100 to $85/per 100 in less than 2 years to allow drug companies to price gouge the public to develope a slush fund to pay off their debits during the 80"s/
Bush put all of his drug compaies friends into the FDA to fast tract the knew asma drugs on to the market. They rigged the market. There was a extreme conflict of interest by all parties.
MD's wanted the drug off the market because tedral was no longer a RX. People could buy a good asma drug without going to the doctor. I bought the drug for 15 years without a doctor. They lost money.
Drug companies lost their profit. They wanted Tedral off the market to prevent competion from an old drug that was great from competing from new drugs that were not as effective that no one would buy.
People like Bush who sat on the board of Ei lilly like Dan Quale, and Ken Lay and others wanted more money from their stocks something they were not getting from Tedral.
Tedral was taken off the market because of greed. Nothing else-write your congressman

I sold Tedral as a speed in the 70's. 5,000 pills a week. I had a booming business. It's off the market now.

Tedral in the 60's was a prescription drug. It later became an over the counter drug where the drugies used it illegally so the wise FDA took it off the market. Asthmatics need this drug because it does work for us.

I haven't been able to find Tedral here in Canada, either, in recent years.  However, Tedral is a compound of theophylline, ephedrine and phenobarbital, with theophylline being the potent bronchodilator in the mix.  If your problem is more about breathing than sleeping at night, you might try one of the many theophylline preparations available in Canada and the U.S.A. Some of the brand names are: Theochron, Theo-Dur, Theolair.  There's also a preparation called Theo-Bronc (theophylline, potassium iodide, guaifenesin, mepyramine maleate) which acts as an expectorant as well as a bronchodilator.  All of these are prescription meds--ask your doctor.
