My Yorkshire whelped two puppies last night. Today she has been panting very heavily and had some bad diarehea. Is she OK? I saw one placenta after the pup #2, which I took away from her. I didn't see the first placenta since she had that pup while we weren't watching and I thought she ate it. We  found pup #1 on the floor crying and she was on our bed barking at it. This is her first litter at 2 years old. Does anyone have an idea if she is in trouble because of that panting?

You should bring her to the vet... if she didn't eat the first placenta and it is still in her, she could get an infection.

ok if this happens to anyone take your dog in immediately. this happened to our dog she was fine and proud the first day then the next day she had the same symptoms and died. the vets think it's from toxic digestive disorder due to the pregnancy so don't let this happen to your dog. it is very hard to continueally feed puppies every 2 hrs in place of the mother.
