I am a beginner in UNIX, I have accidentally put a large file in my workspace and since then it didn't stop from scanning the files each time I use my X-Windows file system browser and file manager. And after it run through it the files, the file browser automatically close. Killing the process and rebooting the machine didn't help at all. How can I fix my file browser?

du -s ./* | sort -j

will show you the biggest files and directories in your home directory, after you've identified the one that's causing the problem,

rm ./big_file

will delete the file, or if it's a directory

rm -r ./big_directory

will delete a directory.
